Yesterday, while sitting at the computer trying to get some work done, I found myself distracted (honestly, it doesn’t take much) by something outside my window. Sitting on the deck rail was this little fledgling robin. (Yes, our deck does need to get redone, but pay no mind to the splintering wood.)
This little guy spent a while hanging out on the rail stretching his new wings and sitting there with his mouth open like he was trying to catch some flies. I was careful not to disturb him as I snapped a photo of him through the blinds.
About an hour after this photo was taken, Ron called me over because this young robin was back, this time on another part of the deck rail just outside the kitchen window. While we watched, this guy made an awkward, ungraceful flight of about a foot or so from one part of the rail to another. But then over swooped his much more graceful mom, and as we watched she dropped a tasty little grub into his open mouth and then they both flew off together. It was all pretty magical to watch.
Here’s hoping all your distractions are pleasant ones, and a happy Mother’s Day to all the mama birds out there, without you we’d all just be hungry little birds making our awkward flights.

My apologies for the typos and such this post is almost certainly riddled with.
Awwww.. that must have been so fun to watch. It certainly is a mixed blessing as our fledglings leave the nest. I love being your mother.😘❤️
