I am in the dark. Well, technically it’s the middle of the day so it’s sort of light in here, but it is a gray and somewhat dim January day.
A couple of years ago I bought an inexpensive floor lamp to light up this office of mine. It was a temporary fix since eventually when we did some home improvemet projects the plan was to put in a ceiling fixture. Well, this week my temporary floor lamp decided to break. It’s not an especially high end lamp so I figured it wasn’t worth repairing and figured that maybe I would replace it with something a little bit better.
If, like me, you spend entirely too much time on the internet, you might have seen those videos of that cat who always picks the most expensive blanket/towel/whatever to nap on. That cat and I have a lot in common. When I did some internet searches I found here and there some lamps that I actually liked. Well, I liked them until I saw the price tags. $300! $900! Yikes! Maybe the internet wasn’t the answer.
So I took a trip to the local stores. Let me tell you, there are a lot of ugly lamps out there. Locally, I struggled to find a floor lamp that was even half as nice as the cheap, ugly, non-working one I already own. I came home with a few lamp possibilities, none of which will actually work for various reasons.
So as I was doing some Googling to figure out how difficult it would be to learn ceramics and fabricate my own lamp from scratch, Ron got out his tools and started taking apart my current non-working lamp to see how difficult it would be to repair. Yes, we are both a bit crazy. Long story short, he ordered some lamp parts and promised that I’ll be seeing the light by the end of the day.
In the meantime, counting the extra lamp I dragged up from the basement so that I could have some light in this room there are now five lamps in this presently dimly lit office.
Hope you’re having a brighter week than I am!

My apologies for the typos and such this post is almost certainly riddled with.
Two thoughts. Goodwill and, if it's nearby a Re-Store. I particularly like Re-Store because the revenue goes to support Habitat For Humanity.
You light up any room you walk into.😘
