This past week was all about family.
First up, my mom celebrated a milestone birthday. Last Thursday Mom turned 75. Here’s Mom showing off the new tanzanite jewelry Dad got her:
Mom and Dad live down in Florida. (Moving very far away seems to be a tradition in my family. Perhaps I smell. Ha ha!) They celebrated Mom’s big day with a trip to Dunedin, Florida and we joined in their celebration by phone. When we called, Mom was in the middle of trying to strike it big with the $75 worth of scratch-off lottery tickets Dad bought her.
After celebrating long distance with Mom, it was time to celebrate in person with my sister, brother-in-law, nephew and niece who were down from Maine for a quick whirlwind visit. Here we all are:
As you can see, we had some perfect spring weather for their visit. It was awesome to see everyone and catch up with them. The kids have gotten a LOT bigger since their last New Jersey visit, in fact at 18 (nearly 19!) and 17, they might take offense at me calling them kids, but they still seem super young to this old girl!
Things have quieted back down here. Home improvement projects are underway. Ron does all the work, and I occasionally hold things to help out. The flower pot lilies that the deer chewed up a couple of weeks ago are busy staging a valiant comeback. The rest of the local flora seems determined to destroy us with a pollen storm. Perhaps it’s a sign that I should spend more time indoors working on the editing and revising work that I’ve been procrastinating about.
Thanks for reading, and I hope that you had a good week too! Stay well! — Alissa

My apologies for the typos and such this post is almost certainly riddled with.
Happy and healthy at 75, but missing our family. So glad our two girls could get together. It’s so rare we can ALL be together at one time. I’m enjoying reading this each week.❤️
