It’s July which means it is officially World Watercolor Month, and if you were not aware of this very important occasion, you’re forgiven. Truthfully, despite the title I’m not sure how widespread this designation really is, but there is a little group connected mainly through Instagram hashtags who celebrates this occasion, and puts out a series of prompts each month for any creators who want to join them.
You can find this group via the internet at Doodlewash.com and you can see this month’s list of prompts here. What I appreciate about these little group of doodlers and watercolor enthusiasts is that it really is a just for fun sort of thing, and that you will find creators of all skill levels taking part in these challenges.
I certainly am not a skilled watercolor artist, but I enjoy playing with paint, and I find it to be a nice creative diversion. As creative hobbies go it’s relatively affordable, and doesn’t take up too much space. If the weather allows, I like to sit outside and work on a few of my watercolor pictures at a time. When the weather is not too cooperative or during the winter it’s easy enough to set up indoors and do my watercolor painting there.
I try to participate at least a little bit each month with the different Doodlewash prompts and this World Watercolor Month is no exception. It’s fun seeing all the different pictures that can come out of a single prompt. So, if you enjoy watercolor or are just looking for a new creative hobby, I encourage you to check out Doodlewash.
And for the rest of you, I wish you a happy and safe Fourth of July. If you’re traveling, I hope the journey is a good one, and wherever you are I hope the weather is perfect.

My apologies for the typos and such this post is almost certainly riddled with.
I recently got into watercoloring. Haven't had much time lately, but it's so relaxing.
I look forward to seeing what you have created each month. You are an artist! Stay cool! Happy Fourth!😘
